The curtain finally came down on an incredible month of poker of action in Australia, as Timothy Adams got his hands on the jackpot of AU$2,160,000. The winnings were awarded to Adams as he was crowned the SHRB champion following his success in the Super High Roller Bowl Australia 2020.
The staggering amount that he won was the equivalent to just over $1.44 million. It was a memorable tournament for Adams, as this marked his first cash in the SHRB series. Adams, however, is no stranger to success in the biggest competitions in the poker world, as he has already won over $20 million in prize money.
This competition capped excellent runs by Adams in the Australian Poker Open. At that competition, he won the AU$25K event, and also made the final tables of the AU$100K and AU$50K challenges.
Second Smallest SHRB Event Ever
It was a strange competition, as it was revealed that it was the second smallest SHRB event in history. The Australian event was only slightly bigger than the event in London. There were only 16 entries for the event in Australia, with Adams finally overcoming stern tests from Kahle Burns and Cary Katz. However, the Canadian was able to overcome the Australian and American to take home the top prize.
Burns finished in second place, as he pocketed AU$1.2 million, while Katz walked away with AU$640,000. The Australian had the game in the palm of his hand in the closing stages, however, as he was sitting at the top just about Elio Fox, while Adams was in third place. However, the final table changed the game. Burns would have been hoping to continue his recent hot streak, and mark his induction into the Australian Poker Hall of Fame in style. But, Adams was always a threat with his 79 big blind.
Burns fell behind to Adams but did attempt to make a late revival when he managed to get back up to 835,000 from 175,000. However, the comeback attempt fell short when he had a high pair, before using the Queen and Jack to finish it. The Canadian spoke after the victory about how much the success meant to him, and he admitted that it was a tough day at the office for him.
